Mark Speakman
The attorney general for New South Wales as it is a state of Australia, is a minister in the Liberal government who is responsible for the administration of justice in new south wales.
CLAIM:
The Attorney General also has a range of administrative responsibilities regarding the justice system in NSW. These include an obligation to ensure the system:
- is fair and efficient.
- is consistent in the level and nature of penalties imposed under the law.
- observes the rules of natural justice
- and preserves civil liberties.
The Attorney General is responsible to Parliament for activities of the Department of Justice and has responsibility for the all state’s courts and tribunals and the appointment of judges, magistrates and statutory officers in New South Wales.
Mr Speakman told Fairfax Media he would be a consultative but “decisive” attorney-general who would prosecute the case for legal change, but only when it was required “to meet fair and reasonable community expectations”.
He said he wanted to instil public confidence in the legal system at a time when “we’re seeing around the world, a general malaise in public confidence in public institutions, in political institutions, in legal institutions”.
FACT:
Some may question just how honorable Mark Speakman is.
It appears the minister is oblivious to what his responsibilities are, and oblivious to the actions of those he is responsible for
The Attorney General turns a blind eye to the Highly Questionable Conduct within the tribunal he is responsible for?
Mark Speakman appointmented Lea Armstrong as a Supreme Court judge and as President of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT)
Mark Speakman supports and promotes Highly Questionable Conduct through his actions, and/or lack there of action.
